Brighton Early Music Festival

A MESSAGE FROM BRIGHTON EARLY MUSIC FESTIVAL:
Clare Norburn

Brighton & Hove Music, Arts and Study Support have given wonderful support to the work of the Brighton Early Music Festival.

Over the past 7 years, the service has helped us to shape our education programme, particularly in terms of what we offer in our funded workshops, which are generally free to schools. Brighton & Hove Music Arts and Study Support have also encouraged attendance at workshops and concerts for school age children which we offer outside school hours.

Each year, we have further developed our links with the service and tried to expand what we can offer schools. This year, we are providing a term long singing project, including free INSET sessions for teachers.

A large part of what we can offer schools and pupils is because of the quality support from Peter Chivers and team. We are particularly indebted to Peter Walker, without whose help and enthusiasm, we would not have succeeded in getting some of our projects off the ground. I was really touched by how much time and trouble Brighton Arts and Study Support have taken to help us liaise with schools to make sure that as many schools, teachers and pupils benefit from our programmes.  Peter Walker has also played an important part in working with the festival to provide training for young professional musicians who are delivering education work for the first time.
