Childrens Music Workshop
This progressive series of workshops is designed for children in primary years' 1, 2 and 3, and include singing, percussion and movement. Children will benefit most by joining at the beginning of year one, however the curriculum has been designed so that pupils can join at any time. Classes run throughout the morning on Saturdays and last for 30 minutes for Years 1 and 2, and 45 minutes for Year 3.

Choirs
Everybody can sing! All children and young people are encouraged to join on of our Saturday Choirs. The hour long sessions will develop the voice, improve aural skills and enhance many aspects of general musicianship, all skills which have been shown to support instrumental learning. The choirs are open to specific age ranges and no audition is required. A variety of musical styles will feature in the several performance opportunities scheduled throughout the year.
Junior Choir (Year 4-6)

Youth Choir (Years 7 and Above)

Instrumental Groups and Ensembles
These classes complement and extend the activities that take place during instrumental lessons. They provide opportunities for instrumentalists to develop their playing and knowledge of a wide range of repertoire in a creative and fun learning environment. The hour long sessions enable young musicians to:
• Explore part playing and develop ensemble skills in a variety of musical styles
• Improve sight reading and listening skills
• Develop improvisation and compositional approaches
STRING GROUP
Date/Time: Saturdays 10.00-11.00am
The String Group provides the first opportunity for young violinists, cellists and double bass players to play together as part of a large group. The String Group is ideal for students approaching grade 1 standard. Sessions will focus on extended musical activities such as listening, composing and improvising.STRING ENSEMBLE (grade 1-2)
Date/Time: Saturdays 9.00-10.00am
The String Ensemble privides more experienced string players with opportunities to explore a greater diversity of musical styles, more complex part playing and further develop improvisation and compositional skills.
SATURDAY STRING ORCHESTRA (Grade 2-3)
Date/Time: Saturdays 11.15am-12.15pm
String players will be able to further develop their sight reading skills and learn to follow a conductor. There are opportunities within the rehearsal time for smaller sectional work with specialist tutors, as well as the chance for violinists to take part in a viola taster course.
WIND GROUP
Date/Time: Saturdays 9.00am-10.00am
The group provides the first opportunity for any players of woodwind and brass instruments to come together as part of a larger group and develop ensemble skills. Players are invited to join the group after approximately one year of learning and should be able to play the note ranges indicated for grade 1 standard scales.
WOODWIND ENSEMBLE (grade 2-3)
Date/Time: Saturdays 10.00am-11.00am
The woodwind ensemble provides more experienced woodwind players with a greater diversity of musical styles, as well as opportunities to develop improvisation, composition and sight reading skills.
BRASS ENSEMBLE (grade 2-3)
Date/Time: Saturdays 10.00am-11.00am
The brass ensemble provides more experienced brass players with opportunities to explore the wide range of music written for this medium. The sessions will improve signt reading and ensemble skills as well as benefiting the development of stamina and technical ability.
SATURDAY WIND BAND (grade 3-5)
Date/Time: Saturdays 11.15am-12.15pm
The Saturday Wind Band is open to woodwind, brass and percussion players (approximately grade 3-5 standard). The diverse repertoire includes arrangements of popular, television and film music in addition to contemporary compositions written specifically for concert band.
