Pupil Progress
Recognising and celebrating pupil progress forms an important part of the learning experience and helps young people to become independent and motivated learners. To help pupils enjoy their learning and reach their full potential our specialist team of teachers focus on developing a wide range of musical and personal skills. To achieve this aim:
- Pupils follow a creative and progressive curriculum which develops all aspects of musical learning
- Teachers provide twice yearly progress reports highlighting achievements and future learning goals
- Pupils take part in informal graded Performance Assessments
- All pupils evaluate their own progress against set criteria
- A range of opportunities are available to further support and extend learning – please see our City Music Centres
- Parents/Carers are welcome to attend lessons to support the learning of younger children
- Teachers are always happy to discuss pupil progress or any specific learning needs
Additional Opportunities
A variety of opportunities are available outside of lessons to enable pupils to consolidate their learning, learn from other teachers and musicians and broaden their musical experiences. All pupils are encouraged to take part in:
• Performances at school concerts and assemblies
• The progressive range activities available at our City Music Centres
• Singing as part of our Junior or Youth Choirs (link to choirs)
• City wide projects and events in partnership with other organisations (Diary of events)
• Our programme of Summer School courses
