Young Dancers Collective

Day/Time: Wednesdays 6.30-7.30pm,  7.30-8.30pm

An exciting new dance class for 13 -17yr olds, the Young Dancers Collective is a weekly dance class delivered by professional dance artist Jason Keenan-Smith.  The intensive training sessions aim to nurture and inspire young dancers and give them the opportunity to brush up and develop their contemporary dance technique with other students who are equally as passionate about dance.  This programme is ideal for any young person who is considering taking or already taking GCSE/A Level dance or simply wants to improve their dance technique.

Brighton & Hove Youth Dance Company

Led by: Jane Woolley, Artistic Director

This dance company is the leading contemporary dance company for young people aged 14 - 18 in the city, with a specific programme of rehearsals and performances planned each year. Company members will have the opportunity to improve their contemporary dance technique through regular company class and intensive rehearsals (during school holidays). Technique classes will focus on achieving a strong core stability, which enables dancers to move in a safe and controlled way. Members are encouraged to develop their own choreographic skills and will be given information about extra training opportunities. Those planning a career in dance will be offered advice and help in researching different study options.

The Company has worked with some of the country's hottest choreographers and has been involved in many prestigious projects over the years, including performances at The Place (London), Laban (London) Youth Dance England regional and national events and local dance platforms.

Audition 2012

The Youth Dance Company will be holding its annual audition in Autumn 2012  Gifted and talented young dancers aged 14 - 18 years are invited to apply and can obtain an audition pack with details of the 2012/2013 programme by contacting Suzanna Masters on 01273 294835. All information packs will be available in the first week of September 2012.
